Civil Engineering Structures - Heights

There are many roads within the London Borough of Redbridge that are supported and carried by structures owned or maintained by the Borough.

These highways structures are bridges, subways, culverts and retaining walls that vary in age, size and type and material of construction.

The bridges vary from a simple single span bridge to a multi-span bridge going across roads, water courses and railway lines.

The material of construction of these structures consists of masonry, reinforced concrete and steel or a combination of these materials to form composite structures.

Some of these structures beneath or over roads owned or maintained by the Borough are themselves owned by the London Borough of Redbridge (LBR). Other structures within the Borough are owned or maintained by Transport for London (Tfl), Network Rail (NR), London Underground Limited (LUL) and Thames Water (TA).

LBR owned/maintained structures are routinely inspected and maintained.
